Ashfield, part of UDG Healthcare plc, a global leader in providing outsourced healthcare services to pharmaceutical, device and biotech companies, this year celebrates its twentieth anniversary since the organisation was founded by Chris and Sam Corbin in 1997.
Chris Corbin had built up 18 years in the pharmaceutical industry as a medical sales representative, regional business manager and national sales manager before he and his wife, Sam, saw an opportunity to provide high quality, flexible and cost effective sales teams to pharmaceutical companies. Since then, the organisation has rapidly grown into a true success story.
Ashfield were acquired in 2000 by UDG Healthcare (formerly, United Drug), which has given the organisation an opportunity to grow and acquire 19 companies complementing the existing services and continue to provide an exceptional partnership to the pharmaceutical industry. Providing services on an international level, Ashfield is now the leading outsourced sales provider in eight countries including the UK, Ireland and Spain and is one of the largest healthcare communications agency groups globally.
With a continually developing service portfolio since its original contract sales offering, the business now provides contract sales teams, customer service reps, medical science liaison officers, remote detailing, nurse educators, medical information, healthcare communications, market access, market research, training, event management, digital, creative and pharmacovigilance services to clients in over 50 countries, with more than 6000 employees in 22 countries.
Commenting on the milestone, Chris Corbin, Chief Executive Officer at Ashfield, said: “I’m extremely proud of the journey that Ashfield has been on since we founded it. We now provide a wide range of services to the pharmaceutical industry to help improve lives by helping healthcare professionals and patients get the medicines, knowledge and support they need. We’ve acquired and integrated some fantastic businesses that have since proven to complement both Ashfield’s services and culture.
Employees have been and always will be at the centre of our organisation – providing a fantastic place to work where people can develop and grow has always been extremely important to me”
